Where to shoot is always one of the main questions in production of a podcast. Hopefully there is a location such a studio set with controlled lighting and audio where video production company will be able to load in, set up and have full control over the environment. However filming on location, say inside a restaurant will give the podcast more vibrancy and a more unique aspect. It all depends on the nature of the podcast and as a video production company in Las Vegas, HUSTL Media is ready to work in any environment.
There are 3 main components to producing a successful video podcast in Las Vegas or elsewhere. Priority is given to great audio, using great sounding professional mics as well as podcast mic stands, which will offer flexibility in placement. Then depending on how many subjects you will have on the podcasts you may need 2 or more cameras. Usually we would place a wide shot and one camera per every subject. In terms of lighting, depending on the venue and the number of subjects you may need about a 1 Ton G&E.
Podcasts may sound simple in nature but it takes an experienced video team to quickly put everything together. We start off with a Director of Photography who has handled filming podcasts in the past and is able to get things done quickly. Then depending on the number of cameras, one or two additional camera operators might be needed. We need to take care of lighting and that is where a Gaffer with at least a 1 Ton G&E package comes in handy. Then no production would be complete without great sound, thereby we need a good on location sound mixer. Then we would need a production assistant or two to make sure we have enough hands. Sound like a lot but here at HUSTL Media we have all of the crew needed to get everything done right and take the headache out of the video production process.

Podcast FAQs
Depending on the venue and accessibility, we need anywhere from 30min to an hour to load in.
Ideal podcast filming location would be where we have complete control over lighting, sound, and motion. So ideally we’d have space to ourselves, it would be large enough to accommodate talent, client, crew, and gear. Usually the bigger the space the better, but we work with what we have.
Ideally we’ll have a pre-light day, on which we will be able to load in, set everything up, dial everything in and make sure nothing is missing. When we have to set up and shoot interviews on the same day, we ask for at least 2 hours to get everything set up.
As an interview video production company in Las Vegas that shoots a lot of interviews of all kinds, we’ve found Sony FX6 to be the ideal camera for filming interviews. However depending the client’s needs, we can film on anything from Red, to Cannon, to Arri and Blackmagic.
Since podcasts are much more relaxed, usually it’s best to avoid complex patterns and logos, however talent wears whatever they want. It’s still a good idea to bring options to chose from, depending on the background, lighting, and type of podcast we are filming .
Filming outside is complex due to lighting, sound and weather conditions. Outdoor shoots generally take longer to setup, we need to think of power outlets, noise, and elements in general. On a sunny day it’s fighting with the sun, on a cloudy day it’s having enough light that is consistent. Whenever possible shoot interviews inside.
