Shooting green screen interviews in Las Vegas is a great idea and something that gets overlooked quite a bit. In this article we are going to explore the benefits of shooting green screen interviews in Las Vegas and will provide a number of reasons why your company or your brand might consider shooting on a green screen.
When companies come to Las Vegas for trade shows, conferences, conventions they want to maximize their ROI by also including video production and capturing as much video marketing content as they came while the timing and budget permits. Usually this would be in the form of client testimonials, customer product reviews and feedback and executive interviews. Selecting the venue for those is incredibly important as usually you will want to keep the interviews as close to the event say trade show as possible.
For example, say your company is participating at a trade show that is taking place at the Venetian Convention Space. That is where everyone is going to be. So it makes no sense to plan to host say interviews at the Wynn or any other venue. Mostly you will want to select Venetian for the interviews as well.
Most of the companies will book a meeting space or a suite at the Venetian and will funnel their speaking guests to the video interview location. Now since HUSTL Media does a ton of similar type video interviews in Las Vegas we have had the time and the experience to analyze the situation and come up w a list of best practices.
Option #1. We film video interviews or testimonials at the provided space. The challenge with this is we have to take into consideration the space, the furniture, the walls and the artwork which more often than not doesn’t come off and also the furniture a lot of times doesn’t want to move. So in order to make your video testimonials or interviews look their best we need to rearrange the furniture, find the best possible angle to shoot at, take lighting into consideration etc. The problem with all this is you need to think how the interviews for video marketing will be used and if the scene will fit the needs of your brand. After all hotel space is still hotel space even if this is shot at a meeting space. So we here at HUSTLMEDIA.com have been moving away from that idea and have been offering our clients a different solution.
Option #2. Option #2 would be to shoot on a white seamless backdrop. This does solve quite a lot of challenges. Now we no longer are constrained by the space we are in, we don’t have to move furniture, and in reality any medium size space that can fit a 10×10 ft white seamless background can do the job.

Lighting a white seamless is a lot easier as well and we get a clean picture in the end. This is great for clients as it offers them great repeatability in the shots. When they travel to different markets and work with different vendors they can show what they have done in the past. The only issue with filming interviews in Las Vegas against a white seamless is they can get a bit plain and boring. Thus the shots are clean but a bit boring. So we needed to come up with a third solution.
Option #3. The third option is shooting green screen interviews in Las Vegas. Green screen offers the ability to select the background that is fitting for the style and the tone of the interview or testimonial. No longer do we rely on the venue and we can shoot against a green screen pretty much anywhere.

This offers the client a lot of advantages and more specifically it gives them the ultimate control over how their message is going to be perceived. Our work flow here at HUSTL Media ,- a video production company, is to first off select the appropriate background for the interview. Oftentimes the company will provide the background that they have in mind, however we can also source the background that will fit the bill as well. There are many options to choose from: from modern offices, to art galleries, to rustic warehouses the options are truly limitless.

Once the environment has been selected, we figure out the lighting setup to best match the environment. For example in the image above where the man is wearing blue suit, the light is coming in from the top right side, so when lighting the interview we will be matching the source and the feel of the environment.
For green screen interviews having one person in the frame works best. The production is usually constrained by the size of the green screen. Here at HUSTL MEDIA we chose to use a 12×12 ft chroma green / blue screen. We use it for corporate green screen interviews as well as when we are working with professional boxers for tale-of-the-tape fighter profiles and some other stuff as well.
One thing to watch out for is beforehand to make sure the subject is not wearing anything green as that will mess up the keying process. However for those cases that’s where the chroma blue screen comes in. We’ve had a case when the subject came in wearing green and didn’t have a change of wardrobe luckily it took up 5 min to reverse to a blue screen and get the job done.
Here’s how the video came out.
