Every commercial starts with a creative development, which is the process of conceptualizing, designing, and refining the ideas that will become a commercial advertisement. This stage is crucial as it sets the foundation for how the brand’s message will be communicated to the target audience. Here’s a breakdown of the key steps involved in commercial creative development:

This’ likely the most important decision in the commercial video production process. The right commercial director will set the creative vision which will be expressed via Commercial Treatment or Pitch Deck. The pitch deck will in turn dictate the budget.

Commercial Pitch Deck / Treatment
Commercial Pitch Deck should state which Question or Problem you are solving, as in what are you trying to accomplish with this commercial, what is the goal? It is important to be as specific as possible here. What is the story you are going to tell? Following this is the Visual Style Guide. Visual style guide dictates how the creative vision is going to be accomplished. Here the director will provide visual references either to other commercials, prints or films from which creative will be pulled from. This will set the tone and feel for the commercial. And finally How Will all this be Achieved. The technical approach will describe the cameras and lenses used, rigs, setups needed, camera motion, etc.

Commercial video production logistics and permitting
Commercial video production is a time consuming process in part due to logistical challenges. Aside from needing to secure in advance multiple filming locations, coordinate actions w/ county, city, law enforcement, having to secure the right type of insurance, ensure talent availability, there is also the added challenge of having enough time and budget in order to get everything done properly. Resource constraints, namely financial and time make it much more challenging to put together a commercial video shoot in Las Vegas or anywhere else. As a video production company it is our job to ensure that all the boxes have been ticked off, everything has been prearranged, since even the slightest missed can cause massive production delays.
